My Challenge cards

Congrats - a CAS card for wedding, baby, anniversary or graduation. The background was letterpressed by inking a cuttlebug folder. Stamped a nesties label #14 with a stamp from gkd lovely labels 2. The 'small clump of clover' image from gkd faithful florals was inked with memento bamboo and stamped off twice to give a more muted look. I used a clear gelly roll pen to highlight the flourish part of the lovely labels stamp. Added couple of curly-que clips to hold the sentiment and a bit of metallic bling. Again, I've inked the cuttlebug folder prior to dembossing to create the letterpressed background. Nesties label 14 was stamped with gkd lovely labels 2. The image is from gkd fanciful fall stamp set and was colored with prisma pencils. I thought the image and the 'debossed' background went well together. Painted paper clips hold the sentiment. A favorite of mine. I love orange, what I can say! This time the letterpress effect was accomplished by inking an impressibilities screen with memento cantalope ink. I think it's cool the way the ink looks spotty almost water colorish. Added the ribbon on the diagonal (per the sketch)and inked the lower triangle with T.H. distress tea dye ink. Used nesties label 16, gkd lovely labels 2 stamp set and an image from gkd fanciful fall set. The image was stamped in rich cocoa with clear gelly roll pen over it for shimmer. The sentiment is from gkd sending sunshine set. *All of the above cards were submitted to StampTV for their Sketch Challenge #5.

GKD Challenge Tags

Sorry the picture is so dark, it was taken with my phone on a dark wood table. I have to figure out a new way to take "looking down" photos. Anyway, these Tags were made for the GKD Release Challenge #2, make a set of 4 tags. After making so many Christmas cards I went with a suble color palette for these, featuring Memento Cantalope, Lulu Lavender, Summer Sky and Angel Pink inks. I used nestie labels #15 with the gkd lovely labels 2 stamp set. The classic circles centers have ruffled ribbon peeking out from behind and are attached with pop dots. Coordinating ribbons, pearls and/or gems were added to each Tag. The label was mounted to a 3" sq card so the tags can be opened to add a greeting or To/From.

Winter Trees

Hello, It's been awhile since I've posted anything new. I've been working ferverishly on my Christmas card orders. They're DONE! So here's a little something where I was trying a new technique for embossing. Didn't turn out quite as I expected. I like the look tho' and will use this card as one of my own Christmas cards to be sent out. My December class cards will be posted in the next day or two. Happy Thanksgiving to all

Lavender Flakes

Clear embossed the snowflake from GKD Blessed is the Season set. Placed a glimmer mist screen over them and spritzed with Plum tattered angels. Needed more color, so I sponged with Lavender Lulu and Sweet Plum Memento inks. The white embossed tag was stamped with a GKD Fanciful Tag and cut out with a Nestie Fancy Tag die. Added a bit of sheer ribbon and some lavender pearls for a touch bling. This card was submitted to StampTV's November Release Challenge #3 Non-Traditional Colors holiday card.

Autumn Blessings

Using a new Tim Holtz Texture Fades embossing folder, I've sponged ink on the tree, leaves, fence and pumpkins. Went back over the tree trunk, fence and pumpkins with prisma pencils. Blended that with copic's colorless blender pen. Sentiment is from the GKD Fanciful Fall stamp set cut out with a 1.5" circle punch and colored with memento tangelo and potter's clay ink then attached with a pop dot. This card has been entered in the GKD November release challenge #1.

a CAS birthday card

At first I thought the new Holiday Label 14 was messed up in production, so I emailed Claire. Turns out she purposefully ran the writing uphill. Love the way you think Claire, although, it does take some getting used. My paper cuts aren't exactly straight and with this stamp, well, just adds to the quirkiness of my cards! Here I've used a new cuttlebug folder called "Jules Jewels" and embossed a piece of navy cardstock. Then gently dragged a Dew Drop Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink pad over the embossing. Aren't the butterflies and swirling vines gorgeous? Added the Holiday Label 14 stamped in the same gold ink with a birthday greeting in the center. A very CAS card for me. Enjoy! (fyi; the card was photographed against a brown background.)

Happy Fall Y'all

Happy Fall Y'all.! This one was a lot of work. Double embossing, lots of Distress Inks, Leaf ribbon colored with Memento pens, sanding, smudging, frayed edges and so on...... When I first started with this tree folder I wasn't too thrilled with it - the finished card turned out pretty cool tho'. What'cha think?

Layers n Layers?

How many layers? Eight, five or three? The ladies in our BPW North Lake group assembled these cards as part of my demonstration of 'how did she do that?' The flower is colored with Memento Cantalope and Bamboo Leaves ink. All of the shading on the ovals and the embossed background is done in Cantalope ink. I love the softness of this card. Change the tag and you can use this one for just about any occasion. Well, it's back to making Christmas cards. Have a great Fall weekend!

Winter Pond

My first attempt at stamping a scene. Instead of coloring each item in the background I sponged ink in the general area; green trees, water, etc. Cabin was lightly colored with Prisma pencils. This is the card I submitted for the GinaKDesigns Sept Release Challenge #3. In a random drawing my card was selected as the 'winner'!

Happy Harvest

Just a quick post tonight of a Fall/Thanksgiving card. The card was embossed with the Pumpkin Vine embossing folder. I used a finger tip dauber to slightly color the pumpkins with Tangelo & Potter's Clay ink by Memento. A leaf ribbon on the side, with several leaves cut and colored with Tangelo ink. The large pumpkin is also a cuttlebug die, stamped the sentiment then embossed. Colored with Potter's Clay, Bamboo leaves & Chestnut Roan inks. Added a few gems for sparkle. Have a great week!

Perfect bow!

A perfect bow! First time that's happened. lol Colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with the Copic colorless blender pen! How cool is that? This stamp is from GKD Friends are Forever set double matted on Labels 10 and used as a topper on the 4.25" sq base card. DP is from Graphic 45's new Christmas line.

Ready for Christmas?

I always do a 'Winter Trees' card to sell. May tweak this a bit to make easier to mass produce, but overall, I like this one.

This gold embossed Dove, I really like. This one will be for sale. (sorry the picture is crooked) Just need to find a nice simple saying for the inside. This nativity has possiblities. I need to find a way to do the tag on the computer. This tag was cut from a piece of Graphic 45 with all kinds of neat Christmas words and sayings. I like the plaid background. Very different! Yep, I think with a bit of tweaking this will be a nice card.

I'm very late getting my Christmas card samples made this year. My muse has desserted me! Have a good week, everyone.

Sketch Challenge cards

Thought I would post a group shot of the cards I've made for various Sketch Challenges. Dry embossing, relief stamping, ribbons, WMS labels, Stamping Bella, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and assorted flowers were used to make these cards. These challenges only provided a card layout no other design 'hints' were given. A new type of challenge for me for sure! I hope you like them.

Give Thanks

This Thanksgiving card was made using 'leftovers' from last year. lol I cut out the cornucopia which was made with copper embossing paste and painted with Brilliance inks. The background layer was sprayed with copper and brown Glimmer Mist for a card that didn't get made. The label 8 is embossed with the Holly Ribbons cuttlebug folder and cut to size. All I need is a verse for inside and I'm done!

Cream and Black Trio

Here's a Trio of Black and Cream cards using papers from the DCWV La Creme matstack. I followed instructions I found in a magazine. Since I didn't have any labels similar to theirs I created my own using a set of WMS stamps, "Vintage Labels #10, #2 and #4 (moving left to right). I just love these new stamps! They give such added dimension to the Nesties Labels 10, 4 and 2.! A few rhinestones and a piece of brown ribbon, some cream or black card stock are you're done. Elegantly simple.

Cream & Black Elegance

A simple black and cream birthday card. Using papers from DCWV La Creme paper stack, all I needed was a cream card base. This is a 5" x 7" card. Which is larger than I usually make but one needed the extra width to accommodate the patterns. Label was stamp with WMS frame for a Nestie Labels #10. That was the only stamping. All edges rubbed with chestnut roan from ColorBox inks. Simple and easy.

WMS Shabby Chic

Here's a couple of cards using stamps from WaltzingMouse's Rescue Remedies set. These stamps coordinate beautifully with Labels Four from Spellbinders!! I'm hoping to link these to the WMS blog. I love your stamps Claire! The above card used the Pure Balm stamp - it's a 4.5" square card with the Pure Balm double matted label as a topper. Overall card height is 5.5" so it fits a normal envelope. The light green layer is embossed using the Floral Screen folder from Cuttlebug then lightly inked with a Creamy Brown cat's eye from ColorBox. The card below is a Graphic 45 image, heavily inked over to tone down the brightness of her face. Added a strip of Victorian Lace border (Nesties), with the WMS Powders stamp cut as a label, added a sheer gold wire ribbon with a buckle and Wah-La! Would you buy a 'remedy' from her? LOL Think they qualify as Shabby Chic?

Cute as a "Bug"

As I'm getting supplies ready for this week's class I've pulled out a birthday card to share with you. I used stamps and car die from PTI. To simulate chrome, I used a clear gelly roll pen and the headlights are silver brads. The map background was cut using a Nesties Label 12. Card edges were distressed and then rub with Chestnut Roan ink. The car's window was lightly colored with a gray Copic marker. A whimsical card that was quick to put to together.

There'll be 4 holiday cards: Christmas stocking (Iris folding) was cut out using a Nestie then I used ribbon for the layering design; a white & gold spirelli on shimmery green cardstock; GKD winter trees in window; GKD dove with script on red & white and a tent topper birthday card. Card stock used is from Prisma and the pink floral pattern paper is from my stash. Inks used were Memento Rich Cocoa & Tuxedo Black and DewDrop Brilliance Mediterranean blue & Galaxy Gold.

Embossing folders

Good evening all, I'm working on projects for an August class "Coloring embossed images". Here's a pic of a card in progress, using a new Tim Holtz wood grain texture fades. I just love the deep impression you get with his folders. Then add a bit of highlighting to really set it off. I embossed the Nesties' Owl in the wood grain to give the impression he's hiding. Still have to add a sentiment and little owly eyes. Thanks for visiting!

These are my versions of Jessica Fick's GKD card kit. I used floral stamps that I had, so they're a bit different than hers but the finished cards - WOW!

Getting 'inky'

I had a lot of fun getting 'inky' making these cards. Used lots of Distress Ink, metal, cork & faux wood. Oh, and inked up an Impressabilities to letter press the diamonds & stars on the cork. Now that was 'inky'! The camping scene is a bit blurry, please forgive, still getting used to a new camera. Enjoy.

My new blog!

WOW! I have a blog! I will use this to post pictures of my cards, once I figure out how to do so. LOL It worked!
