Lil Darlings set

Happy Sunday everyone!

As promised here's the first of the altered boxes that is now a clock. I used the G45 Lil Darlings paper pack for this altered box clock and accompanying mini album. The album isn't quite finished yet, as it still needs a ton of embellishment. I will keep it fairly flat tho' so it will fit inside the clock box.

It's difficult to see in the pics that the main image has been popped up under the mother's portion, as has, the nest in the lower left corner and the Lil Darlings banner. (One day I hope to take better pics for you.)

The challenge for me on this project was working with such a light color palette. I find it difficult to work with pastels, however, I do like the way this project turned out. Hope the new mother-to-be does too.

Stay tuned, later this week I'll post the other clock box that was sitting on my desk in the WOYWW #172 pic.

It's Wednesday, which means we post a pic of our work desks for the world to peruse. You show me yours and I show you mine. :D  Hop on over to the Stamping Ground to get all the deets and check out work desks from around the globe.

My desk is fairly neat today. Gathering supplies for tomorrow's card class, installing clock works in altered boxes (more on them in a couple days) and playing with alcohol inks.

Well, I'm off to take a peek at your work desk. Have a super day!

My summer...

Hey there,

My summer in pics. Did I go on vacation to someplace pretty, to view waterfalls, climb mountains or sketch in Italy?

Nope... I've been teaching card making classes, entered a charm swap and completed two altered boxes with two more in the works. If that isn't enough, I'm also learning to work metal. As in, embossing it using an ef and/or hand tools and changing the finish to look like rust or something other than shiny silver, since I'm working with foil tape and sheets of aluminum. It's pretty cool. Hope to have a pic soon of a project in the works.

So here's a few pics of my card classes and ... oh! the charms I received from the Ink Stains charm swap are fabulous and I'm working on a plaque to display them. When that is finished you'll see the gorgeous charms people made! Thank you to all who participated. Hope to see you in the Christmas swap! You should check out Roni's blog Ink Stains she does some cool stuff!

Okay on to pics

The cards in the above two pics were inspired by the Simplicity blog.

 Christmas in July class.

Tag made using the new T.H. Metallic Distress stains. Not crazy about it but not bad for a first attempt at creating background depth with layers of stain then stamping. Check out Tim's Metallic Distress Stains video here.

Last is a grouping from my last summer class. This group used SU products.

Hope you liked the pics. This catches you update with all the projects I have been and am working on. See ya soon with another altered box!

Steampunk Clock (altered box)

All right folks here we go... The first of many posts to bring you up to date with why I've been absent from my blog.

On Sunday I posted a peek of one of my projects. Today is reveal day!

I had 4 wood cigar boxes that I scored when the stamp store I worked at went out of business. Haven't really known what I would do with them. Two years later - as my style and creativity has evolved, I find myself ever more drawn to altered art. (Thanks Dar for your inspiration!)

So what do I do with a narrow wood box?

Why, make a clock - of course!!

lots of texture and dimension

Joan's Gardens Challenge #32

(If you're looking for my WOYWW post - click here)

Yes, two posts in one day after being MIA for weeks. :)
Today is the last day to get in on the challenge over at Joan's Gardens. I haven't joined in one of her challenges all year and it's about time I did.

Joan's Challenge #32

  • Fall card (possibly with a pumpkin)
  • Tree
  • Polka Dot back Ground
  • Grass

  • I'm using my all time favorite ef - Falling Leaves from Sizzix; check off the tree and pumpkins. My background dp is Dotted Swiss (I think that's what it was called) from Bo Bunny. And I used ric-rac ribbon and embroidery floss as grass. My pic isn't the best (sorry), IRL the leaves really shimmer. And the sentiment is from G45 Happy Haunting.

    So here's my entry

and a close up trying to show the shimmering leaves that were colored with liquid pearls.

paper- bazzill, bo buny and a bit of G45
    ink - distress inks
other - liquid pearls, cut n dry nibs, ribbon, floss, finger daubers

    WOYWW #170

It's WOYWW #170! Because I've not posted the past few weeks doesn't mean I haven't been hopping and looking at all of the wonderful creative spaces out there! Today I remember to take a pic of my desk and the west wall of my studio. Oh by the way, This WOYWW was started by Julia Dunnit and has really grown. Go ahead take peek at some of your fellow crafters/artists desks. There's some amazing art going on around the globe!

I'm working on a couple of altered cigar boxes (wood) and dabbling with a metal plaque while the paint and ink dries on the boxes. I have one finished box that will be posted probably tomorrow. Come back and check it out. :)

Yes, like many people I can't believe September is here!

I also cannot believe that I have not posted in such a long time! I've been so wrapped up in a couple of new projects time just got away from me. Here's a little peek at what I was working on. Back later this week with all the specifics and pics of the completed projects.
