WOYWW 187

Welcome to 2013, WOYWWers!! Yes, we made it and I don't know about y'all but this is going to be an eventful year for me. Lots of changes in store for me and one humongous milestone birthday just a few short months away! eek!

Well onto my desk today... I spent yesterday in the studio all day working on a couple of projects for upcoming challenge posts. There's an ATC in the works, a tag partially finished off to left and some InkaGold sampler pots bought on clearance. Now I know why they were on clearance...they're very dry and should be creamy. Hopefully it'll be okay to add water to them. There's the usual d.i. and other assorted bits n bobs laying around.

Stop by Julia's Blog for the links to go desk hopping 'round the world. Come on let's go have a good snoop! :D

Have a crafty day!

WOYWW 186

YIKES! It's Wednesday! I'm late I'm late....been playing with a new iPad (Christmas gift) and totally forgot...

Julia is so right, the day after a holiday always feels like a Saturday whether it is or not. So we've come to our mid-week snoop of work desks 'round the world. For all the deets check out Ms. Julia's blog.

There's a bit of a mish-mash of stuff on my desk this week. My snowbird friend came over last Saturday and we had a play with some of Tim's techniques. The tags on the left in pic are the results. I've used one of the tags already which you can see here.

On the right are some Heartfelt Creations images that I'm playing with for January's class. eek! that's next week!  The top shelf has a few new bits n bobs. Loving the dylusions sprayed hearts. Used one on my first ATC found here

And the middle piece, is the result of playing with a template and d.i. using sponges, brushes and a finger to see what texture can be created. Pretty cool... :)

That's it for me this week. I'll probably have a bigger mess next week once I like most others are back in the normal groove of creating. Have a great week!

Happy Boxing Day (to those that celebrate it)!

I'm off for my whorl wind tour of the world. Do hope you join in the fun!

Enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Anything but a Card #9

Merry Christmas Eve!

One final post with a Christmas theme before the big day.

My snowbird friend came over on Saturday and we pulled out Tim's Compendium of Curiosities I and had a play with a couple of his techniques. The basis of this tag started with his Dabber Resist technique found on page 37.

I've done a bit of over stamping with musical notes and lots of distress ink in peacock feathers and stormy sky.  And a touch of Brushed Pewter stain here and there. The poinsettias have been sitting on my desk for weeks and finally found a home. Once assembled the tag was lightly spritzed with perfect pearls mists pearl.

I'm submitting this to:

an ATC!

Yes, an ATC! OMG are these ever tiny! I had to look up the dimensions to make sure I got it right, as I couldn't believe they were this small. And they're not. . . they're miniature! Why you ask did I venture into the land of ATCs? There's a bunch of peeps I follow that make the most amazing ATCs; Wanda, Butterfly and Mark to name a few. Mark's ATC struck 'a note' with me so I'm giving it a try, making an ATC! The Fun with ATCs challenge this fortnight is to make an ATC based on a song. Can you guess what song immediately came to me?

My ATC is a piece of black chipboard on which I've embossed a scene in white. The edges are streaked with d.s. brushed pewter and a bit of it dragged across the ATC for some shimmer. The heart is a Nesties die cut attached to a piece of cloth canvas, think shopping tote material, which was sprayed with several different colors of Dylusions sprays. It came out a vibrant bluey red! I added a raised edge of white acrylic paint and filled the center with melted UTEE until it was smooth. While the UTEE was hot the chain was embedded.

Have you guessed the name of the song this represents?
Hank Williams' "Take These Chains From My Heart"
http://youtu.be/PdtSxT_R6C4

I've submitted my ATC to the following:

Fun With ATCs - #77 Choose a song

Sunday Stamper week 237 - use Hearts

Enjoy!

I've tried to give you pics with differing lighting to show the metallic shimmer, the smoothness of the UTEE and the canvas texture under the UTEE along with the song's lyrics.
supplies:
chipboard
ink- versamark
other- UTEE and fine detail embossing powders, distress stains, dylusions sprays, acrylic paint, feather yarn, chain, canvas cloth and Nesties die.

Turmoil

Happy Friday everybody!
I was moving pics out of the 'to be posted folder' when I came across a piece that I hadn't posted yet.
This is a 3" square piece of MDF that I've covered with masking tape. Then added layers of wrinkled masking tape. Once I was happy with my wrinkles (not :D ) the whole thing was covered with gesso and painted with distress stains. Brushed on a bit of antiqued bronze with my finger and added some drops of liquid pearls for shimmer.
I was inspired to try playing around with the masking tape after seeing this post by butterfly on Words and Pictures.
My piece is titled 'Turmoil'. It suits my life at the moment.
Enjoy!

Supplies:
masking tape, 3"x3"mdf, gesso, distress stains, liquid pearls

Edit: MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard. Sawdust and glue compressed under great pressure. Makes a very dense sturdy wood product.

WOYWW 185

Hey there blog friends! Hope you're enjoying the pre-holiday festivities; shopping, baking, decorating and wrapping gifts. :)

We're here today to share a couple pics of my desks. My snowbird friend came by and helped me clean off desk #2 in prep for my reorganization project. (Snowbird= someone who lives up north and spends the winters in FL) For the deets on why I'm showing you my work desks check out Julia's Blog.

My actual work desk is just some stuff I'm playing around with, Dylusions sprays. Still haven't found the knack of using them. And my last pic is of the finished canvas from last week. My CASE of butterfly's ATC found HERE.

Well, I'm off to hop round world visiting as many desks as I can.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Enjoy!

Since I will be out and about later this morning I'll be stopping by as many desks as I can later tonight. Have a great crafty day.

Faux Leather flower card

Hi everyone,

Let's try this again since the test post went through okay.

Here's the finished card I've made using my faux leather flower tag. The tag was attached to piece of Prismatic Greed card stock (discontinued) which has a green gold shimmer, that was embossed in a snowflake e.f. Then attached to a red card base.

Love the finished card. Hope you do to.

Enjoy!

See challenge(s) tag post for supply list.

WOYWW 183

Yep it's Wednesday again when we get to blog hop around world peeking in on others and seeing what's happening on desks around the world. Confused? Need clarification? Then stop by and see Julia at Stamping Ground for the answers.

Not much happening here. Prepping for tomorrow's class. On my computer I have the paper cut, embossed images ready and the Twinkling H2Os set out. On the other desk I'm pulling stamps we'll use. You'll see I keep all of my stamps in binders. I'm in the process of making an index so it'll be easier to find a stamp and then to put it away.

I've used the faux leather pieces that were on my desk last week HERE and HERE.

Well, I'm off to the finish prepping then I'll be popping by to visit as many desks as I can tonight and tomorrow after class. Looks like the girls are ready...

Enjoy!

Happy WOYWW!

High Seas

Hello all,

I'm back with another Tag!!! Pick me up off the floor will you! Anyway, I came across this challenge which fit my tag perfectly...

Anything But a Card Challenge 7 - By the Sea
You could use the inspiration pic or anything by the sea; colors, scenes, animals so on. Any type of art except cards is acceptable.

So with that, here's my tag I created over the weekend. I've used peeled cardboard and another piece of my faux leather. I thought this piece looked very much like the ocean at dawn. When you're on a cruise out to sea at sunrise it's amazingly beautiful. The water is turquoise, blue, green, pink and lavender. Wow!

I've over stamped the faux leather with Archival black, applying with light pressure so as not to have really dark words. I guess this step is suppose to be done first then the faux leather treatment. Live and learn. I like the way not all of the words get stamped due to the texture of the paper. The cardboard was brushed with Brushed Pewter metallic distress stain. The rubber gasket at the top was dabbed with brushed pewter and antiqued brass stains. This is cool, apply heat and the metallic doesn't rub off the rubber.  I made my own compass out of a clock gear and glued two metal pieces together to simulate a ship's wheel. My ship image is my version of faux scrimshaw. The lace and seam binding ribbon were dyed with Peacock Feathers d.i. and Antiqued Bronze stain. Added a  word tag, some paper string and hemp.....another completed tag!

Enjoy!

supplies:
paper-cardboard, bazzill
stamps - SU, stampers anonymous
ink- distress inks, distress stains, archival
other - misc gears, lace, seam binding, hemp, nesties curved label die, utee, micron pen

Challenge(s) Tag

Good Monday afternoon y'all,

I have a Christmas tag to share with you today. Yep I know a tag! And I've used several new to me techniques creating it, too! First off is the flower...you may remember this piece of faux leather sitting on my desk for WOYWW #182, HERE or scroll down one post. It's amazing what this technique does to paper! Really cool stuff! The tag itself was swiped through leftover Festive Berries d.i. that I used to die my cotton ribbon. After this dried I swiped it through some new Brushed Pewter metallic stain...really cool. Lots of distress ink on the edges before I tried to clear emboss just the edge of the tag. A bit of the clear powder stuck where it shouldn't but after heat setting I liked the gritty texture it gave to parts of the tag. Stamped my ribbon image along one edge. Oh yea, the pattern on the ribbon was stamped with Archival Ink. Also stamped some Christmas words and tried to get some white snowflakes to show up. Not too successful with those. After putting the ribbon and flower on it still need some sparkle so I dug about to find a bling swirl which I cut up and used two small bits. Added some feathery ribbon and done.  Since I have no need of Christmas tags for gifts I'll turn this one into a card. I will post the finished card later in the week. Hope you like my technique-y tag.

Enjoy!
