FILM at 11:00 ...

Remember that saying? A favorite sound bite of TV stations prior to the digital age.

While I'm waiting for the Nationwide race (NASCAR) to start tonight thought I would get this ATC posted to Fun with ATCs Challenge #95 black/white/red.

I've used a shiny white paper to cut my filmstrip and attached to a matte black piece of chipboard. I've stamped the TH gentlemen stamp (forget the name of it) in red on the little film squares. Black/white/red....done.

I'll have another tomorrow.

Also joining in with Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge Anything Goes.

And I will have more projects to share with you throughout the weekend.

Twinchies x 2

A second post from me today, to share a couple more twinchies I've made using leftovers. The black mount board pieces were the leftover scraps from the frame on my "shattered" art piece. Scroll down one post or click here.

The images were stamped with VersaMark ink and colored with a dusting of mica powder. It's been ages since I've used this technique. To give each piece a bit of framing, the edges were heat embossed with black embossing powder. I love the way these turned out. Now to incorporate them onto a larger piece.

I'm linking these with the Twinchies Challenge blog - Challenge #4 Floral theme.

See you tomorrow. ;)

First in the Series

Here's the first of my three MDF squares.

I present...."Shattered".

This started as an unfinished piece of 4" x 4" MDF. It was coated with gesso then a layer of wrinkled masking tape with some glue and seal to help the tape stick. A layer of the g&s was applied on top and left to dry.

Next I painted the entire piece with silver alcohol ink adding streaks of silver dp. I then added a few dashes of pitch black a.i. and coated the piece with a thick layer of distress crackle paint-clear rock candy. This took almost two days to dry.

Once dry, I started to highlight the cracks by rubbing in black dp and wiping off with a damp baby wipe. A bit more silver a.i. some stabilio all pencil on the raised edges, a few gears with a cracked & chipped star then placed on a glossy black frame .......done!

Close up to show cracks.

Hanging on my wall.

I'm very pleased with the way this turned out. Hope you like it  too.

Pics were taken in different places trying to get a decent pic without the glare. The silver a.i. is really shiny!

Is it Wednesday already? (Well actually tuesday night for me.) Time for our mid-week desk hop. For those out of the loop, check out Julia's place for all the deets at the Stamping Ground.

More p&s going on again today Deskers. The same ai, stains and paint as last week as I'm still working on the wood squares. For the sharp eyed among the sneak peek? One square is done! Check back on Thursday for the reveal. ;)

New on my desk, is my playing around with a die cut negative using the die cut as a mask. Turned out pretty cool! Love the texture from the paper towel. Think this will make it's way into my next card class. There's a couple of new twinchies made from black mount board leftovers and mica powders. I've added an edge treatment and will be posting these probably on Saturday.

Happy mail came this week! Thank you, Krisha for the super neat postcard art! Love the stencils on the addy side and the cool stamping on the other. I see I might need to get a few more TH stamp sets. ;)

Have a great week everyone! I'll be around to visit and snoop as I can. Mojo is in full swing so I don't like to disrupt her too much. :)

Celebrate the day!

Tuesday T time

Good Tuesday morning!
I'm back joining in with Elizabeth and Bleubeard for T Stands for Tuesday over on the Altered Book Lover blog.

I live on diet Pepsi which I mostly drink from the can, kinda boring to show that again. So today I am sharing a coffee mug sans used to house my growing collection of paint brushes.

For those not familiar with the logo...that is the emblem of Harley Davidson motorcycles. Not sure why/how the background came out brown instead of black. :( I designed and ordered another which turned out fab and gave it to MF (my fella). Sorry that pic is a bit blurry it was taken with his phone camera.

And finally, success in getting a pic of a butterfly on what I call my butterfly bush. Tho' sadly the flowers are well depleted due to the sudden weather change from hot and rainy to just plain hot! Still I'm quite happy that I was able to get such a perfect pic of this beauty.

I was showcased!

. . . on the Unruly Paper Arts RAQ #1 - Postcards from the Edge!! How fab is that?! I am so thrilled and honored!

Happy Monday!

Twinchie here Twinchie

My first Twinchie!

I was snooping on Trisha Too's blog easy to amuse hard to offend on her WOYWW post, where she had used a bunch of leftover bits and pieces that were lying around to make a whole stack of ATCs. And she made some twinchies and inchies!

Now I have a shelf above my desk that is overflowing with cast offs, leftovers and other interesting but unused stuff.... Here's my first make using a stamped and layered scrap piece from that shelf. It's been buried for so long I don't remember who the stamp is by, maybe PTI.

I cut the piece down to twinchie size, 2"x2" added some stickles, liquid pearls and a piece of pearlized tile that turned out to be see thru! How cool!

I'm submitting this to the twinchie challenge over at Twinchies Challenge Blog. This month's theme is Floral.

Hope you like it. This little piece certainly stands a better chance of being used now that it's so cute. :)

Unknowns - stamp, punch
Inks- distress markers
Other - stickles, liquid pearls, sticky back tile, clear sticky bubble

WOYWW 219, NBUS & tape tape tape

My thanks to Ms. Dunnit our WOYWW hostess for opening mr. linky a bit earlier than usual (wee hours of the morn her time) which makes it great for those of us a few time zones behind the UK. It's nice to be playing working on a Tuesday night and take my desk pic and link up then go back to work playing. :) Do pop over to The Stamping Ground and join us in the world's greatest blog hop!

Now my desk tonight... I have employed the p&s technique (push & shove) to make a little room to play around with a NBUS stamp set from ginakdesigns. Trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it. I've also been doing a bit of repair on one of the first ATCs I've ever made that used a playing card as the background. I'll post her in detail at a later date. You'll also spot my wood squares with a layer of masking tape on them. I've used Glue and Seal for any loose edges and as a sealer over the entire surface. Might be sorry 'bout that, as I'm not too sure how the alcohol inks will react with it. We'll see.....stay tuned to this channel for further details. :)

I have a question for my Desker friends...anyone in the USA know of a source for Bazzill Linen card stock? I usually buy from Discount Cardstock but their shipping charges are...ouch! Appreciate any suggestions you might have.

I'll be stopping in for a snoop throughout the next few days and hope to visit more desks this week. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to visit everyone who stopped by last week. That's what's so cool about Deskers...they understand life does interrupt our hopping at times

Have a crafty week! and...

The first WOYWW of August! Where do the days go? It's still hot in central Florida USA with tons of rain too, this year, which good after the years of draught we've had.

Well, enough of my chit're snooping stopping by to see what's on my desk. :)

I have started working on a trio of wood squares. Each is a 4"x4" piece of MDF (medium density fiberboard). I've primed them with gesso and started to lay out my substrate for the first piece.

At the back you'll see I've gathered alcohol inks, distress stains and paints. On the right a few brushes and my ultra cheap clear palette. :) On the left is my roll of masking tape, some samples where I've been testing with the a.i. and bits of scrap paper should I need some.

Please join us for a good old fashion looky loo (snoop) at desks and work rooms 'round the world. Julia's blog is the place to go for all the links.

I'm going to try and post early on Tuesday night so I can get back in the studio. Need to work while the mojo is flowing! Have a fab week and I'll be popping in for a visit real soon.

T anyone?

Good Tuesday morning friends!

Just a quick post this morn so I can link up with Elizabeth and Bleubeard 's T stands for Tuesday. A fun little get together with friends showing what you're drinking or what you drink out of. :)

No I'm not drinking paper! This is my fave glass though as I try to show you a better pic of what's on the glass.

And this was my entry for the Craft Barn Dictionary challenge, the letter T, but I missed the deadline. So I'll use it for T today! :)

My attempt at an inked landscape background layered with images stamped on tissue paper. I then clear embossed the whole piece. IRL it looks like a porcelain tile. The edges have been embossed with DI vintage photo embossing powder. And of course, my T word is was Transparent.

Have a wonderful day and a crafty week!
