WOYWW 294

I made it......as I flop into a chair to catch my breath. My friend, Trisha came looking for me so I had to hurry and take some pics of my progress in the studio and link up with Julia. I made it, Trish!

Well the white cabinet didn't work out for Sizzix die storage.

Two issues: one I couldn't read the labels (bi-focals ya know) and the shelves sagged. So I tried the wood shelves next to it, still couldn't see the labels. So....

I've changed how I'm using the new old sewing cabinet found at a used furniture store for a steal. I've removed the doors to make it easier to get at my stuff. The drawers are strong enough to support the weight of the dies. Just need to type up some new labels since the dies lay on their side.

Yipee...happy dance. All of the plastic drawers from the broken plastic carts, you know the ones from the craft stores, fit on the shelf side of the cabinet. And tucked into the corner, I've stacked to wood units with small cardstock (A2) and the drawers will hold painting supplies (eventually). ;)

Sorry I wasn't a very good snooper last week. This week isn't looking too good for visiting. Maybe by the weekend I'll pop in to visit those that visit me.

Have a good crafty day!

Crafty hugs,
Nan and the Girls

  2. Lovely to see your room coming together. Storage is always a problem for me, I use a folder at the moment for my dies and Embossing Folders but ......
Carry on arranging and have a good week

  3. OH Nan, I am so please you have sorted your storage of your dies, I keep mine in a draw and they have labels on the side of them too. We do purchase this stuff and then have the agonizing problem of solving the storage, quite funny if you think about it. glutton for punishment. Your crafting space is looking great.

    Have a wonderful week.

  8. I hear you on the labels and trying to read them. I often relabel things in a large easy to read font just so I can read the label. I like how your organization is coming along. It's looking good. I like the front-less drawers. What a nifty way to store those heavy dies!

  9. I am super impressed with the way your new craft space is coming together. You are finally making it your own. Glad that you found a way to store your dies. I don't have that problem (grin), but I like how you have stored yours.

I can't believe I've beat you to the comments for ONCE. Will wonders ever cease to exist. BTW, Bleubeard is waving his tail and flipping his ears to T. You would laugh if you could see him doing it, too. Happy WOYWW from #1.

  10. Hi Nan, what a great find and idea to re-purpose the sewing cabinet and the best idea to take off the doors - so user friendly then. Now you have to rethink the white unit. Enjoy your week and thanks for visiting Cheers RobynO#42

  11. You are figuring out how to organize things in a way that works for you. I need to figure out stuff too. I am tired of getting on my knees and getting my dies and EFs out of bottom cubbard. But you know something has to be in that cubbard. I can't have everything handy! LOL . Have to figure out something else. Your space is looking good! :) #63

  12. That looks great reusing old furniture into making something that is just perfect for you to use. It's all those different shapes and sizes that drive us crazy to make it all look nice and pretty and your room is coming together really nice and boy that's a lot of dies to play with :)

  13. I need to find somewhere better to store my dies too... they're overflowing the box they're currently in.. I keep mine in their original packages though, maybe when I find somewhere else for them I can do away with that!.. Helen 4

  25. Actually, the re-labelling is quite a small price to pay..that sewing storage is PERFECT for the dies...am a teeny bit jealous!

  26. Oh, that's excellent die storage... what a great idea to take the doors off too - who needs'em?! And the white shelves will look much nicer with the colourful paints and bottles which seem to be lining up there now. Keep up the good work - it's going to be a great creative space.
