Hello Spring

Ah warm days cool nights and everything covered in a thick layer of fine yellow powder....oak tree pollen. aaa-ACHOO.! Oh excuse me, allergies ya know.
Anyways, I've been busy in my craft room having a play with a large Formica sample. I used this one, sorry forgot to take a before pic, because the finish looks kinda rust-like. You can just see the original finish around the edges of my finished piece below. So following my inspiration found on Laura Bomber's blog.
I've made my own letters using the SU/Sizzix alphabet bigz dies and decoart acrylic paints with some stamping. The finish reminds me of the enameling on old time tin cups. The letters are layered onto some chipboard pieces and arranged down the canvas Formica piece. For my background, I brushed some gesso hap-hazardly, dried, followed by some crackle paste thru a stencil. Then combine a couple of antiquing cremes like Laura to give a weathered look. Cut some small tattered flowers and leaves and had fun arranging everything.
Punched a couple holes for the very rusty wire hanger and hung out on my door.

I hope you like my ode to spring. Thanks for the inspiration Laura! You sure helped kick start my mojo!
Have a wonderful and crafty weekend my friends!
Hugs, Nan and the Girls
